Welcome to the Town of Truckee

Truckee Town Hall

The Truckee community has existed for over 150 years, but the Town of Truckee was officially incorporated in 1993. The Town of Truckee is pleased to offer residents various services, including police and animal services, disaster preparedness, recycling programs and waste coordination, street maintenance, public transportation services, access geographic information services information, trail and bikeway maintenance, and the development and implementation of policies and ordinances that are adopted by the Truckee Town Council.

The Town encompasses a wide variety of programs and initiatives meant to improve the quality of life for our residents, visitors, pets, and surrounding environment. These include the recently adopted 2040 General Plan or programs such as the Truckee Home Access Program (THAP), which works to preserve homes for the regional workforce, and the Short-Term Rental Program, which aims to foster responsible tourism.

Our organization is also committed to maintaining a balanced mix of economic sectors, improving the diversity and resilience of the local economy, creating opportunities for jobs at income levels that make it financially feasible for employees to live and work in Truckee, and supporting businesses and commercial activities that build upon and enhance Truckee's unique character and natural environment through our Economic Development division.

To ensure equitable access to Town programs, opportunities for civic engagement, and community cohesion, a newly developed Community Engagement division, including a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program and Communications Program, has been implemented.

As a mountain town leader, Truckee is also committed to leading the way in sustainability. Keep Truckee Green is a key division that supports, guides, and tracks our town's comprehensive environmental efforts.
