[ARCHIVED] Help the Public Art Commission of Truckee Update the Public Art Inventory

A retaining wall on the street with a large, swirling, sculptured art piece on it.

The Public Art Commission of Truckee (PACT) is inviting community members to help us keep the Truckee Public Art Inventory up to date.

This living document is a growing collection that showcases the wide range of public art that contributes to the character, culture, and vibrancy of our town. From murals and sculptures to performance pieces and photography, public art tells the story of Truckee—past and present.

What Is Public Art?

  • Public art is defined as artwork of any media, including but not limited to:
  • Sculpture
  • Painting
  • Mural
  • Live or performing art (such as music, dance, theater)
  • Drawings
  • Photographs
  • Installations and similar forms

These works may be temporary or permanent. They can be:

  • Owned by a public agency and placed on public property
  • Owned by private entities and displayed in public spaces
  • Privately owned but visible from public areas

If it’s publicly viewable and creative, it counts!
