[ARCHIVED] Meeting with Congressman Kevin Kiley to Advocate for Winter Recreation

On February 21, 2024, Mayor Dave Polivy joined Supervisor Hardy Bullock, serving Nevada County’s 5th District, and Congressman Kevin Kiley, currently serving California’s 3rd District in the House of Representatives, to talk about winter recreation and access to public land. The event was hosted by the Outdoor Alliance and Tahoe Backcountry Alliance, but included representation from many regional entities, including the Winter Wildlands Alliance, Lake Tahoe Snowmobilers, Sierra Avalanche Center, Truckee Donner Land Trust and more.

The meeting emphasized the value of working together across all governmental levels, giving land management planning funding top priority, enhancing the ability of neighborhood stewardship organizations, and coordinating policy priorities for outdoor recreation.

“Outdoor Alliance California, Tahoe Backcountry Alliance, and Visit Truckee Tahoe are key partners in advocating for winter outdoor recreation in the region. The town is grateful for partners that advance our initiatives of preserving the landscape, bolstering the health and wellness of the community, and increasing equitable access to sustainable outdoor recreation within the region’s vast public lands and waters,” said Mayor Polivy.
