[ARCHIVED] Pedals, Prizes & Community Pride: Truckee’s Annual Bike Month a Resounding Success!

People around the Town of Truckee pop-up tent with their bikes for Bike Everywhere Day

June was buzzing with spokes and smiles as the Town of Truckee celebrated its 2nd Annual Bike Month, bringing together neighbors, students, families, and local businesses for a fun, sustainable celebration on two wheels.

This year’s celebration was bigger and better, with over 200 community members participating across a full calendar of events. From the ever-popular Bike to School Day, to Bike-Themed Trivia at Alibi, and the festive Bike Everywhere Day, the energy was electric and the impact undeniable.

One of the biggest highlights of the month was the Bike Month Bingo Challenge, which saw 32 participants submit completed Bingos, some as young as 1st grade, pedaling their way across town to complete fun and meaningful bike-related activities. Riders worked to fill their bingo cards with achievements like replacing car trips with their bikes, riding with friends, and exploring new trails. The enthusiasm was contagious, and some participants are already aiming for a “blackout” card next year!

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our local sponsors, who helped fill the month with excitement (and swag!). Participants were treated to Bike Month water bottles, seat covers, gift cards and discount cards courtesy of Dark Horse Coffee Roasters, Alibi Ale Works, RMU, Bike Truckee, BCycle, and Start Haus.

We were also thrilled to reward 10 lucky raffle winners with prizes valued at around $100 each, thanks to donations from RMU, Coffee Bar, Visit Truckee-Tahoe, Stealth Tahoe, and Upcycled Adventures.

Bike Month is more than just a celebration—it’s a growing movement for sustainability, health, and community connection in Truckee. The positive feedback and strong turnout are already inspiring ideas for next year’s events.

From our youngest peddlers (and striders) to our seasoned commuters, we’re proud to see Truckee’s biking community thriving. Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and cheered us on. See you next June!
