The Public Art Commission of Truckee (PACT) is continuing its work with Town of Truckee staff to bring more public art to the community through several key projects this year.

Church Street/Truckee Way Roundabout Sculpture

Truckee will soon have a new public art installation at the Church Street/Truckee Way roundabout. Following a competitive selection process, artist Jake Balcom was chosen to design and create a sculpture for the space. The installation is expected to take place this fall, adding a unique artistic feature to this central intersection.

Temporary Public Art Program

PACT and Town staff are exploring a pilot program that would introduce rotating public art displays at the new Truckee Mobility Hub at 10930 Church Street. This initiative would allow the Town to “rent” temporary artwork for approximately two years, ensuring a dynamic and evolving collection of public art that enhances the Mobility Hub and surrounding area.

Public Art Inventory Update

One of PACT’s first initiatives was the development of a Public Art Inventory, documenting the various public art pieces throughout Truckee. Work is now underway to update this inventory with new descriptions, photos, and an improved format to better showcase the public art that contributes to Truckee’s sense of place.

Acknowledging the Public Art Commission of Truckee

Truckee’s public art efforts are made possible through the dedication of PACT commissioners, who volunteer their time to support and advocate for public art in the community. The Town would like to recognize the commissioners for their commitment: Troy Corliss (Chair), Carole Sesko (Vice Chair), Molly Moore, Jennifer Standteiner, Kellie Cutler, Steve Thompson, and David Mason.

PACT meetings are open to the public and take place on the first Tuesday of each month from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Truckee Town Hall. Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in discussions about the future of public art in Truckee.
